Kdenlive 26.04 adds monitor mirroring, animated transition previews, and workflow upgrades
Kdenlive 26.04 brings several enhancements for video editors, starting with monitor mirroring. This allows users to mirror any monitor when working in full-screen mode, making it easier to collaborate or manage multi-display workflows.
Expanding on transition workflows, this update adds animated previews for transitions, helping users visualize effects before applying them. Transitions can be dragged directly onto timeline clips and now adjust automatically to match clip length. A new tab for browsing luma files and improved luma logic provide smoother adaptation to project profiles, with previews of downloaded lumas reloading automatically. Additionally, the Euclid Eraser transition and a Heatmap effect enhance creative options.
Focusing on usability, this release offers multiple timeline workflow improvements. Editors can now disable timeline effects via the hamburger menu and import clips from the context menu, supported by a smart length detection function. Sequences also display audio thumbnails for better navigation. Editing tools benefit from features like continuous panning, fixed playhead, playhead-based zoom, multi-clip speed changes, and improved support for external recording devices.
Subtitle workflows have become more reliable through fixes for cutting, moving, and saving subtitles. Rounding out the release, basic math expression support is now available in effect spinboxes, alongside other minor enhancements and bug fixes.
