Claude for Excel and PowerPoint gains full context across open files & one-click AI skills

Anthropic has enabled Claude for Excel and PowerPoint to share full conversational context across all open files, allowing actions in one application to be shaped by information from the other. This streamlines workflows and reduces the need for repeated explanations, as users can move between spreadsheets, slides, and tasks within a single, continuous dialogue.

Building on this context-sharing capability, Claude can now read cell values, write formulas, merge data sets, and edit slides across multiple open files, while also carrying user conversation seamlessly across both Excel and PowerPoint. This interconnected approach is available for all Mac and Windows users on paid plans during the beta release.

Following the context enhancements, skills have been added within the Excel and PowerPoint add-ins. These features enable team members to convert entire workflows into one-click actions, such as saving a variance analysis or a custom client deck process for repeat use. Additionally, Anthropic has shipped a starter set of preloaded skills for common Excel and PowerPoint scenarios.

To further expand accessibility, Claude for Excel and PowerPoint is now available through Amazon Bedrock, Google Cloud's Vertex AI, and Microsoft Foundry. All paid plan users can access both skills and improved context sharing.
