Chrome finally brings vertical tabs and an immersive reading mode for better productivity

Google has begun rolling out two new features in Chrome aimed at making browsing and multitasking more efficient. Users now have access to vertical tabs, a layout option that places tabs along the side of the browser window. This provides full visibility of page titles and simplifies tab group management, especially for those who keep many tabs open at once. To enable vertical tabs, users can right-click on any Chrome window and select “Show tabs vertically”.

Following this update, Chrome has introduced an immersive reading mode for distraction-free viewing. By right-clicking on any page and selecting “Open in reading mode”, users can access a redesigned, full-page interface that strips away non-essential visual elements and focuses on content for easier reading.

While these additions bring Chrome in line with other major browsers, vertical tabs have been available in browsers such as Microsoft Edge, Vivaldi, Brave, Firefox, Zen, Floorp, Dia, and several others for some time. These changes reflect Google’s attempt to address long-standing user requests for improved workflow and productivity within the Chrome browser.

Nice. I might be able to ditch Zen browser fully. Horizontal tabs + brainstorming gets messy pretty fast.
