The new version introduces two distinct model variants for API users: GPT-Image-2.6 Flare, optimized for speed with image generation as quick as six seconds at lower quality settings, and GPT-Image-2.6 Sunburst, which prioritizes higher-quality output and improved consistency across multiple edit rounds.

A key innovation in Images 2.6 is the introduction of a complexity parameter that allows developers to fine-tune how much computational planning the model performs for each request, giving them granular control over the balance between speed and detail.
