Ventoy 1.1.18 brings experimental support for SteamOS recovery images & other enhancements

Ventoy has released version 1.1.18 of its popular multiboot USB tool, introducing experimental support for SteamOS recovery images alongside a suite of stability improvements. The update addresses several long-standing compatibility issues affecting Linux users, including fixes for Fedora 45 beta boot failures, Ubuntu desktop persistence problems, and Grml 2026.09 initialization errors. This marks Ventoy's continued effort to maintain broad compatibility across rapidly evolving operating systems while expanding support for gaming-focused distributions.

Beyond SteamOS integration, the release enhances core functionality with improved Linux remount features that make ISO partitions accessible out-of-the-box on mainstream desktop distributions. The development team also fixed duplicate disk icons appearing in certain Linux environments and stabilized Secure Boot validation for Windows/WinPE images. Additional improvements include support for custom Syslinux-based ISOs, enhanced CloneZilla compatibility, and new checks for Boot Conf Replace entries within VentoyPlugson.
