Kubuntu 25.10 shifts to Wayland by default, drops X11 in new installs

Kubuntu 25.10 will no longer include X11 as the default session for new installations, switching to Wayland to align with current Ubuntu releases. Users still have the option to install the plasma-session-x11 package if they require the traditional X11 environment, but development will prioritize Wayland for stability.
