Opera GX adds split-screen, Tab Traces, Bluesky sidebar integration, Tab Islands, and more

Opera GX’s latest update introduces a split-screen feature, letting users place two web pages side by side. This eliminates the need to switch between tabs, improving multitasking for gamers and power users. You can activate split-screen mode by dragging a tab down or by right-clicking after selecting two tabs.

Alongside this, Opera GX adds a new Tab Traces tool, which helps users revisit their five most recently accessed tabs when many tabs are open. Tab Traces appears after opening thirty or more tabs, with the minimum threshold adjustable in the settings. For further tab management, the browser now lets users organize tabs into groups based on topics. These groups, called Tab Islands, can be collapsed when not in use to save screen space, and are created automatically as related pages open in new tabs. Tabs can also be labeled with emojis, offering a faster way to spot specific tabs visually.

For those who use social networking within their browser, Opera GX now integrates the Bluesky platform directly into its sidebar, joining existing shortcuts to Discord, Twitch, WhatsApp, X, TikTok, and Instagram. This addition allows users to monitor social conversations without leaving their web browser.
