Microsoft unveils new Windows 11 calendar app, but only for Enterprise and Business users

Microsoft has announced a new calendar app for Windows 11, addressing feedback about the current calendar's reduced functionality compared to Windows 10. This release aims to provide a more capable and convenient scheduling experience for users accustomed to the previous version’s features. This calendar app is part of Microsoft 365 Companion — a set of mini productivity tools. Companion includes Calendar, People, and File Search, all designed to help users access essential information and actions quickly.

Building on user needs for an efficient workflow, the calendar offers a fast and lightweight interface. It prioritizes minimal disruption by providing direct access to common calendar tasks such as viewing your daily or weekly agenda, opening meeting chats, and responding to meeting invitations — all from the Windows 11 taskbar.

However, only Microsoft 365 Enterprise or Business subscribers in the Insider Beta Channel can access the new calendar app. Consumer version holders as well as standard Windows 11 users will not see the update at this stage, mirroring similar restrictions on the Companion suite’s People and File Search features.
