Microsoft starts testing Xbox Copilot beta for gaming on iOS and Android

Microsoft has launched the beta version of its Xbox Copilot for Gaming assistant on both iOS and Android, accessible through the Xbox mobile app. The feature is currently limited to select regions, including the US, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, and Singapore. This AI-powered assistant was previewed in March and focuses on providing tailored game tips, recommendations, and information using users’ Xbox accounts and play histories.

Copilot on Xbox allows users to view recent achievements and receive game suggestions based on individual preferences. The assistant functions as a second-screen companion and is designed not to interrupt core gameplay while supplying relevant advice. Copilot detects which title is currently being played, providing links and answers in real time aligned with Xbox activity.

Following Microsoft’s Copilot ecosystem, the assistant’s interface and customizable voice mirror the company’s broader design for digital helpers. Roadmap plans include evolving Copilot into a comprehensive AI gaming coach, with ambitions to analyze gameplay, identify errors, and advise on strategies such as hero picks as demonstrated in Overwatch 2 back when the feature was revealed. Future versions are also slated to enable remote downloading and installation of games directly to Xbox consoles.

The Xbox App centralizes your gaming experience by connecting friends, games, and achievements across Xbox One and Windows 10 devices, including iOS and Android. It allows you to stay engaged with the Xbox Live community, monitor friends' activities, and share game clips and screenshots. Despite its low rating, it provides a unified platform for tracking achievements and gaming interactions.
