Microsoft unveils Copilot for Gaming, a new AI assistant for game management and coaching

Microsoft is integrating Microsoft Copilot into its gaming platform with the launch of Copilot for Gaming, an AI assistant designed to enhance the Xbox gaming experience. Initially available through the Xbox mobile app, Copilot acts as a second-screen companion, assisting with gameplay, downloads, and setup.

The AI tool is designed to streamline administrative tasks and offering gameplay assistance by acting as a coach, helping players navigate challenging sections, understand game mechanics, and revisit older titles. A demo showed its capabilities by providing strategic advice to an Overwatch 2 player. Microsoft describes Copilot as the "ultimate gaming sidekick," delivering tailored tips and insights.

While the advanced coaching features showed in the demo won't be included initially, Microsoft plans to expand Copilot's functionalities based on user feedback. The first preview version will be available in April for Xbox Insiders via the Xbox mobile app, as part of Microsoft's testing phase.

The Xbox App integrates your gaming experience across Xbox One and Windows 10 devices, including iOS and Android. It connects you to the Xbox Live community, allowing you to see what friends are playing, share game clips and screenshots, and track achievements. Despite its low rating, alternatives like Google Play Games, Game Center, and PS4 Remote Play offer similar functionalities.
