Google launches Stitch, a new AI app builder for UI design and frontend code

Google has announced Google Stitch, a new generative AI app builder focused on UI design and frontend code. Powered by Gemini 2.5 Pro and available as an experiment on Google Labs, Stitch allows developers to convert text prompts and reference images into functional, export-ready UI designs within minutes. Stitch is the successor to Galileo AI, another AI app builder platform that just announced its acquisition by Google, and is now being rebranded and upgraded with Google DeepMind’s latest models. Former Galileo users can migrate their data to Stitch via the settings page until June 20, 2025, though imported conversations cannot be continued.

Developers can guide the tool with detailed requirements, uploading wireframes, rough sketches, or screenshots of existing interfaces. The tool currently supports prompts in English, enabling developers to describe color palettes, layouts, or user experiences using natural language and themed templates.

As part of the workflow, Stitch generates multiple variants of each interface, assisting experimentation with different styles and layouts. The UI assets come with fully functional frontend code, which can be exported to Figma for refinement or added directly to app projects. Stitch is positioned alongside other "Vibe Coding" tools like Lovable, the recently announced Figma Sites, or Readdy, offering similar visual generation and editing capabilities.
