Apple launches CarPlay Ultra, the next-generation of its automotive infotainment system
Apple has announced the launch of CarPlay Ultra for new Aston Martin vehicles in the United States and Canada, expanding availability to existing models equipped with the brand's latest infotainment system through a forthcoming software update. Building on the established CarPlay experience, CarPlay Ultra offers deeper integration by blending iPhone features and essential car controls within a unified interface that reflects the automaker's signature aesthetic.
As part of this update, CarPlay Ultra delivers real-time content and custom gauges across all driver-facing screens, including the instrument cluster. Drivers can personalize displays for the speedometer, tachometer, fuel, and temperature gauges, ensuring that automotive functions align with the brand's look and feel. In addition, users can choose to view both iPhone-sourced content, such as maps and media, and vehicle data like tire pressure and advanced driver assistance system information, all within the instrument cluster.
Drivers interact with CarPlay Ultra using onscreen controls, physical buttons, or Siri voice prompts. This access allows management of everyday features such as radio and climate, as well as advanced configurations like audio settings or performance options directly through the system. Following these main enhancements, CarPlay Ultra also introduces widgets powered by iPhone that fit neatly on dashboards and gauge clusters, presenting at-a-glance information.

It requires an iPhone 12 or more recent, but given the base price of the Vanquish or the DB12, it's not be the most expensive gadget.
