Meta AI launches standalone app for Android and iOS with social discover feed & voice mode
Meta AI is now available as a standalone mobile app for download on the App Store and Google Play Store. The new app removes the previous reliance on Meta’s platforms like WhatsApp or Instagram, allowing users to interact directly with the AI assistant similar to other popular chatbots like ChatGPT, Claude or Grok. The chat interface supports text, voice input, image generation, and delivers real-time web search results.
Probably the biggest key feature from this new Meta AI app is the Discover feed, which lets users view, like, comment on, share, or remix AI-generated prompts and interactions from others. This feed is also rolling out to the Meta AI web app and aims to highlight creative uses of AI within the community. Additionally, Meta AI includes a memory feature for personalized responses by remembering user details from linked Meta accounts, available in the US and Canada.
The app also features an opt-in conversational voice mode using experimental full-duplex speech technology enabling more natural conversations, pretty similar to ChatGPT's Advanced Voice Mode, though this feature is currently limited to users in the US, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand, and does not support web searches for now. The app also integrates functions from Meta View for Ray-Ban Meta glasses, allowing device management and access to past conversations. Meta AI is also available on the web at meta.ai, without requiring a Facebook or Instagram login.
