Joplin 3.3 brings Rich Text updates, audio recording attachments, UI improvements and more

Joplin 3.3 has introduces major accessibility improvements for both desktop and mobile, including enhanced keyboard navigation, improved screen reader support, and higher contrast UI components like URLs, sidebars, and scrollbars. A new feature, "Go to viewer," allows users to switch focus from the note editor to the viewer.

On the desktop version, users can now collapse or expand all notebook hierarchies with a single button and run multiple independent instances for better workspace management. Additionally, a new search dialog enables quick linking of notes, and the Rich Text Editor has been updated to TinyMCE v6, which includes Markdown auto-replacement features. Mobile users will notice improved focus handling in modals and better screen reader compatibility for profile management. The app now supports attaching audio recordings to notes and offers enhanced voice typing on Android, thanks to Whisper AI. The "New Note" menu has been redesigned for easier access to different note types.

Joplin 3.3 also boosts security with a stronger content security policy in the Rich Text Editor and addresses numerous bugs—39 on desktop and 17 on mobile—to improve security, stability, and performance. Additional mobile updates include better contrast for faded URLs and enhancements to the encryption configuration screen.
