Fedora Linux 42 has been released with KDE Plasma 6.3, revamped Installer & COSMIC Atomic

Fedora Linux 42 introduces a range of updates across its editions, catering to different user needs such as developers and gamers. Key highlights include the elevation of KDE Plasma Desktop to "Edition" status, featuring KDE Plasma 6.3, alongside the introduction of the COSMIC Desktop, enhanced drawing tablet support, fractional scaling, and compatibility with Power Systems (ppc64le). The Anaconda Web UI installer has been revamped for a better partitioning experience, while a workaround addresses a UEFI bootloader entry issue affecting dual-boot setups.

Fedora Workstation 42 integrates GNOME 48 with features like screen time tracking, improved Wayland accessibility, and offline speech-to-text capabilities. Fedora WSL images are now available, enhancing the Linux experience on Windows, and DNF5 sees improvements in repository key management.

Fedora Asahi Remix 42 is tailored for Apple Silicon Macs, offering KDE Plasma 6.3 and GNOME 48 variants, with FEX integration for running x86 binaries. Fedora Atomic Desktops introduce the COSMIC Atomic Variant, with system integrity enhancements and updated desktop environments like Silverblue with GNOME 48 and Kinoite with KDE Plasma 6.3. x86 program support on ARM systems is facilitated by the FEX emulation stack, enabling broader application compatibility.
