YouTube expands Premium Lite plan to the US, offering ad-free viewing for $7.99 per month
Jack Greenberg, director of product management for YouTube Premium, has announced an expansion of the Premium Lite pilot to users in the US. Premium Lite offers an ad-free viewing experience for most videos on YouTube for $7.99 per month. In the coming weeks, this offering will also be available to users in the current pilot regions, including Thailand, Germany, and Australia.
While Premium Lite provides an ad-free experience for various content types like gaming, comedy, cooking, and learning, users seeking ad-free music, offline access, and background play will still need to subscribe to the full Premium plan at $13.99 per month. YouTube plans to further expand the Premium Lite pilots to additional countries throughout the year, aiming to enhance subscription options.

I'm not giving Google another cent ever again, except for buying second-hand Pixel phones to run GrapheneOS.
It'll be $20.00+ in a few years.
I'm just guessing, but I think most people who want to be free of ads, want to be free of 100% of them, not "most ads".
From YouTube announcement: "With Premium Lite, users can enjoy their favorite content with fewer interruptions." So that's the justification for their fight against ad-blockers, Indivious and Manifest V3, and so making the web a little worse, to offer YouTube with less "interruptions" for $8/month. So I'll pass, and continue to use ad-blockers, Indivious and Manifest V2 and give few bucks to the channels I like, than watching a single ad or paying YouTube anything.
