Vercel and xAI partner to simplify AI development with Grok model integration

xAI and Vercel have teamed up to integrate xAI's Grok models into Vercel's ecosystem, simplifying AI development for users. This partnership allows developers to access Grok models directly from the Vercel Marketplace without needing additional signups, thanks to a new free plan that supports quick prototyping and AI experimentation.

The Next.js AI Chatbot template has been upgraded to run on Grok models, making use of features like tool calling, retrieval, and code execution, while authentication is simplified with API keys managed automatically via Vercel’s environment variables. The integration offers a pay-as-you-go pricing model, ensuring developers only pay for the AI resources they use. Vercel’s AI SDK enables developers to switch between various AI providers, such as xAI, OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google, with minimal code changes.

Additionally, the SDK includes a model playground for comparing AI model performance. Developers can install xAI in their Vercel projects using the command vercel install xai, and future support for Grok model integrations in Vercel’s v0 chat interface is expected.
