Thunderbird 136 launches with improved dark mode, better message threading, and more
The Thunderbird team has released version 136 of its popular email client, introducing several new features and enhancements. Users can now automatically adapt messages to dark mode with a simple toggle in the header. The update also includes a revamped “Appearance” settings interface that allows users to globally control message threading and sorting order.
A notable addition is the dark reader feature for the message pane, which can be enabled with the mail.dark-reader.enabled
preference. Message filters have been made more accessible, now appearing in the folder pane context menu. Horizontal scrolling in the thread pane is also supported, activated via the mail.threadpane.table.horizontal_scroll
preference.
Additionally, the calendar setup wizard has been updated with a checkbox to select or unselect all calendars. Thunderbird 136 also comprises various other improvements and bug fixes, which are detailed in the release notes.
