Rescuezilla 2.6 released with Secure Boot fixes, Ubuntu 24.10 support, and more

Rescuezilla has rolled out version 2.6, featuring numerous enhancements and bug fixes. This version addresses compatibility issues with UEFI Secure Boot systems by updating the UEFI Secure Boot shim package to v1.58. This update resolves “SBAT self-check failed” errors and the “revoked UEFI bootloader” warning when using Rufus to create a bootable USB stick.

The release transitions from Ubuntu 23.10 “Mantic” and Ubuntu 22.10 “Lunar” builds to Ubuntu 24.10 “Oracular” to support new hardware. However, this change temporarily omits Mozilla Firefox and the Image Explorer beta from all variants.

Version 2.6 also resolves an issue with querying drives in the Bionic 32-bit version caused by the --merge feature introduced in util-linux v2.34. The update includes an upgrade to Partclone v0.3.33 and MemTest86+ v7.00. Additionally, a temporary workaround skips GPG checks on the Bionic 32-bit variant for successful builds.

The build environment OS has been updated to Ubuntu 24.04 “Noble” from Ubuntu 22.04 “Jammy”. This release also features numerous new and updated translations, alongside other minor improvements and bug fixes.
