Navidrome 0.55 brings multi-artist albums, enhanced metadata, album versions, and more

Navidrome has unveiled version 0.55 of its open-source, web-based music collection server and streamer. This release features the much-anticipated Big Refactor (BFR), enhancing core functionalities and introducing new capabilities. Users can now manage albums and tracks with multiple artists, grouping them under a single album. The update also allows for detailed metadata by supporting the addition of composers, conductors, and other contributors to tracks.

The new version introduces support for the ALBUMVERSION tag, helping users differentiate between various album editions such as deluxe or remastered versions. Enhanced support for multi-valued tags and user-defined custom tags offers greater flexibility in metadata management. Smart playlists can now incorporate all newly added tags, including multiple artists and custom tags, providing more personalized playlist options.

Persistent IDs for tracks and albums ensure stability across playlists, favorites, and integrations, even if files are moved or renamed. Additionally, the update includes optimized file scanning and improved handling of missing files, alongside various other improvements and bug fixes.
