Google introduces a new Canvas tool and the Audio Overviews feature to Gemini
Google has introduced two new features for its Gemini AI assistant—Canvas and Audio Overviews—designed to enhance content creation and coding workflows. Canvas functions similarly to OpenAI’s Canvas and Claude’s Projects, providing a dedicated workspace where users can draft and refine documents and code in real-time. It also enables collaboration with Gemini for editing and reformatting. For coding projects, Canvas includes a live preview feature, allowing users to see updates instantly as they make changes.
In the other hand, Audio Overviews transforms written documents or slides into a podcast-style discussion between two AI-generated hosts. This feature was previously part of Google’s NotebookLM, which converted documents into conversational summaries.
Both Canvas and Audio Overview are available for free to Gemini users worldwide. Currently, Audio Overviews is only available in English, with plans for expanded language support in the future.
