Files v4.0.24 adds PowerToys Peek support, tag search operators, and more UI tweaks

Files v4.0.24 has been released, adding support for PowerToys Peek, letting Windows users with Microsoft PowerToys installed preview files in Files by selecting an item and pressing the space bar, similar to macOS Preview. No additional setup is required, and more details are available in the PowerToys Peek documentation.

The update also adds copy actions to the right click context menu in the sidebar and on home page widgets. New file and folder creation is faster thanks to a prefilled default name that is automatically selected, making it quick to keep or replace. UI tweaks include a shadow on the Omnibar suggestions flyout to better match WinUI styling, plus text wrapping for long folder names in the Status Center.

Tag searches now support AND and OR operators. Fixes include crashes when resizing the window in Dual Pane mode and when switching Git branches during a merge conflict, plus a correction for PNG based .ico files that were showing black backgrounds in the sidebar. Existing users should see an update prompt in the app, and new users can download it from the project site.
