Perplexity adds a new Instant Buy shopping feature with PayPal and virtual try on

Perplexity has released a new AI powered shopping feature for all US users, built on its PayPal integration. Similar to the "Instant Checkout" feature by ChatGPT, users can now complete purchases inside Perplexity through "Instant Buy", which works with any merchant that accepts PayPal.

Shoppers can run contextual product searches that account for location, lifestyle, and personal preferences. The assistant keeps conversation context and uses previously shared details to personalize results, presenting products in structured cards with pros, cons, and review based insights. Perplexity notes that merchants still receive full customer information, can handle returns, and maintain the post purchase relationship.

Apart from the new shopping features, Perplexity has also announced a new virtual try on feature for Pro and Max users, allowing them to generate an avatar from a photo to preview clothing from any store on their own replicated bodies. The company has not confirmed whether this will tie into the new shopping flow, but it is reasonable to expect some form of integration.
