Goodnotes update brings new plans, AI features, Whiteboards, and Text Documents

GoodNotes has launched its next major version, effectively what would have been Goodnotes 7 after the last major update Goodnotes 6, though this time it comes without a version number. The release introduces new subscription tiers called Essential, Pro, and Special Edition, along with major additions such as Whiteboards, Text Documents, and AI-powered tools for math support and meeting summaries. Existing Goodnotes 6 users and lifetime buyers are automatically upgraded at no cost. Lifetime users move to the Special Edition plan, keeping their one-time purchase with limited AI and cloud sync, while yearly subscribers transition to the Essential plan with full platform access.

Goodnotes Essential now includes Whiteboards for unlimited creative space and Text Documents for flexible writing with multimedia support. Goodnotes Pro adds real-time collaboration, private sharing, commenting, and integrations with Google Calendar, Google Drive, and Microsoft OneDrive, plus the AI Meeting Assistant for automatic recording and transcription. The interface has also been refined with a redesigned toolbar, new object menu, improved selection tools, and a Shapes feature for easier organization, plus a new logo.

Free users now have access to Whiteboards and Text Documents, while Team and Enterprise plans add administrative controls and stronger security. Some features, including Pro and the AI Pass, are initially available on Apple devices and will expand to Android and Windows later in 2025.
