Goodnotes acquires Traw, an AI video summarization tool, set to shut down in February
GoodNotes has recently acquired South Korean startup Dropthebit, developers of Traw, a tool for summarising YouTube and personal videos and meetings. Goodnotes plans to integrate Traw's features, such as video analysis and Excel integration, as part of its strategic expansion from the education sector to a professional productivity segment.
Traw started as an AI-powered whiteboard tool similar to Miro or Microsoft Whiteboard, but with voice communication features between remote teams, including audio recordings and the ability to replay meetings. Over time, it evolved into a promising AI-summarization tool for videos, supporting multiple languages and automatic timestamps to facilitate navigation between key points of the video.
The company announced that the Dropthebit's co-founders will join Goodnotes, and as result of the acquisition, the Traw platform will cease operations and stop accepting new subscriptions from January 16, 2024, with the shutdown becoming effective on February 16, 2024. To help users manage their data, a Data Export feature has been introduced, enabling users to download their summaries in PDF format.
