Replit unveils a new 'Replit Agents' tool to autonomously build apps with AI

Replit has introduced a new 'Replit Agents' AI tool capable of autonomously building entire applications, setting it apart from traditional coding assistants like GitHub Copilot or Cursor, as well as from other autonomous AI agents like Devin or AgentGPT. Acting like an intern software developer, this AI understands a user's vision and executes it independently. Unlike AI tools such as ChatGPT or Claude that respond to specific queries, Replit’s AI agent autonomously makes decisions and handles complex tasks throughout the software development lifecycle.

The AI agent can write code, set up development environments, and manage deployments, covering the entire software development process. It has been trained using data from millions of Replit users' development processes, making it proficient in managing complex tasks. However, Replit CEO Amjad Masad emphasizes that the goal is to enhance human creativity and make software development more accessible, not to replace developers.

Currently in early access for Replit Core and Teams subscribers, the AI agent offers features such as project scaffolding, debugging, deployment management, and real-time collaboration and explanations.
