Microsoft is merging the Xbox Game Pass app into its main Xbox app for iOS & Android
Microsoft is consolidating its Xbox Game Pass and Xbox App mobile apps into a single app for iOS and Android devices. Xbox Insiders can begin testing the new unified app this week, which integrates features from both existing apps. Users will be able to explore the full Game Pass library, manage memberships, and Game Pass Ultimate members can claim perks directly from the app. Starting in November, Microsoft will cease support for new downloads of the standalone Xbox Game Pass app.
The updated Xbox app will also include party chat, text chat, game captures, remote installs, and remote play capabilities. However, due to ongoing disputes with Apple, Xbox Cloud Gaming will not be available on iOS or Android through the app; users will need to use a browser for game streaming.
Additional updates include a new compact mode for Xbox Game Bar on PC, improved Xbox app download space management, and faster updates for Xbox console games, allowing immediate play when updates go live.
