Xbox is finally updating its Achievements system with visual improvements and new features

After what feels like an eternity of Microsoft promising a meaningful overhaul to Xbox’s iconic Achievements system, the company has finally started rolling out a new batch of updates for select Xbox Insiders, with a wider release planned over time. The most immediate change is a visual refresh for achievement notifications, with classic and rare unlocks now getting updated icons, new animations, and a cleaner presentation. Notifications will also match each player’s custom color settings, adding a more personal touch to every unlock.

Xbox is also giving players more control over how their achievement history appears on their profile. Later this month, users will be able to hide individual games from their achievements list, a long requested feature that only affects profile presentation. Hidden games will still count toward total Gamerscore, and all related activity will continue to be tracked across Xbox.

Microsoft is also making 100% completed games easier to spot by highlighting titles where players have earned all available Gamerscore. New filters will help users quickly find both fully completed and hidden games in their achievements view. I mean, still nowhere near PlayStation style platinum trophies, but definitely steps in the right direction, especially since the company says this is only an early part of a broader push to improve Achievements, although who knows how many more years it will take before we see the next one 💎

Looks like the last Xbox employee is pushing all its changes before been transferred to some of the many Microsoft's AI departments.

Now if Microsoft really wants to kill the Xbox, instead of switching to "maintenance mode", they'll put Copilot in charge of the whole development.
