Luma AI launches Dream Machine API for advanced video generation in apps and services

Luma AI has introduced the Dream Machine API, allowing developers to integrate its advanced video generation capabilities into various applications and services. This release makes Luma’s technology accessible to a broader audience, including individual developers, startup founders, and engineers from larger enterprises.

Previously only available through Luma's website, the Dream Machine model can now be directly incorporated into applications via the API based on Dream Machine v1.6. Key features include Text-to-Video, Image-to-Video, Keyframe Control, Video Extension and Looping, Camera Motion Control, and Variable Aspect Ratios. These features enable users to create videos from textual instructions, animate static images, control video narratives, extend video sequences, manage camera motions, and optimize videos for different platforms.

Pricing is set at $0.32 per million pixels generated, with a 5-second video at 720p resolution costing about $0.35. The API’s launch is expected to significantly expand the reach of Luma’s AI video technology across various platforms and use case, especially now that Adobe has announced its new AI Video Generation tools within Adobe Firefly.
