Visual Studio 2022 launches stable version 17.11 & preview 17.12 with support for .NET 9

Microsoft has announced the stable release of Microsoft Visual Studio 2022 Version 17.11, aiming to enhance the development experience across various application types, including web, desktop, cloud, and gaming, by making the IDE smoother, faster, and more intuitive.

The release notes for Version 17.11 highlight enhancements in GitHub Copilot, debugging and diagnostics, various workloads, languages, and general productivity. Concurrently, Visual Studio 2022 Version 17.12 has entered its first preview phase, setting the stage for the future of .NET 9 development. The stable release of Version 17.12 is expected in November, alongside .NET 9.

Version 17.12 Preview 1 introduces new AI productivity features and improvements tailored for .NET 9 and ASP.NET projects. GitHub Copilot also receives additional updates in this preview, offering new enhancements unique to Visual Studio.
