Proton Pass introduces Biometric Authentication and Identity Management features
Proton Pass has announced the introduction of biometric authentication for its Windows and Mac applications. This feature integrates with Touch ID on macOS and Windows Hello on Microsoft's desktop OS. However, access to this biometric authentication is limited to users subscribed to the Pass Plus plan and higher, excluding those on the free tier from utilizing this new functionality.
In addition to biometric logins, Proton is also enhancing its password manager by including the ability to manage Identities. This new feature enables users to autofill forms with their contact information, such as names and addresses, with a single click. Notably, unlike the biometric authentication feature, the identities functionality is available to both free and paid users.
The company asserts that these updates are designed to save users time, enhance productivity, and improve the overall user experience, while still ensuring the security of their information and passwords.
