Microsoft confirms it is replacing the classic Control Panel with the modern Settings app
Microsoft has confirmed once again its plans to phase out the iconic Windows Control Panel, a staple since Windows 1.0 in 1985, in favor of the more modern Windows 11 Settings app. The exact timeline for the complete removal still remains undisclosed though.
Introduced with Windows 8 in 2012, the Settings app has gradually absorbed many functions traditionally managed by the Control Panel. But despite its age, the Control Panel remains essential for tasks not yet integrated into the Settings app, particularly for compatibility with older software.
While rumors of the Control Panel's demise have circulated since 2015, backward compatibility issues have delayed its full retirement. Microsoft continues to encourage users to adopt the Settings app as more features migrate from the Control Panel.

Great no more 2 settings apps
We are in the poo 💩 why have thousands of useless settings ? And when we need a setting, obviously it's not in this shit ... or I need to (un)tick thousands of checkboxes to do one thing ... So please gosh, make the future more KISS, Keep It Simple, Stupid
You mean "Keep It Simply Stupid", that is the Microsoft way since forever. They also have some difficulties to gasp the difference between Dark Themes and Dark Patterns.
