Google Maps and Waze roll out new safety and convenience features for drivers
Google has announced several new features for Google Maps and Waze aimed at enhancing user safety and convenience while on the go.
Google Maps now allows users to more easily report incidents such as nearby construction, lane closures, objects on the road, and police presence. These reports, sourced from both Maps and Waze communities, can be confirmed by other drivers with a simple tap. Additionally, Maps' new destination guidance feature highlights your destination building and entrance as you approach, along with nearby parking lots.
Waze users will benefit from the ability to see new camera types, such as those monitoring speeding, red light violations, and incorrect lane usage. Waze also introduces a traffic events feature to help users understand the impact of events like parades, concerts, and sporting events on traffic. Furthermore, Waze now offers navigation guidance, including turn-by-turn directions and real-time traffic updates, even when the phone is locked.
These updates will be rolling out globally on Android and iOS devices, cars with Google Built-in, Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay in the coming weeks.
These features are so good from both apps. Very useful and convenient. Now, if only companies didn't want to collect your personal data and sell it to every government, data broker, and interested party known and unknown to man.
