FNA 24.08 is available with official Direct3D 11 support on Linux via DXVK
FNA, an open-source reimplementation of Microsoft's XNA Game Studio 4.0 Refresh libraries, has released its version 24.08 which includes preparations for the upcoming SDL 3 release and officially integrates Direct3D 11 support on Linux via DXVK, building on the early Alpha version introduced in FNA 23.05.
FNA is popular for cross-platform game development, with notable titles like Streets of Rage 4, Terraria, Unrailed!, and Axiom Verge 1 & 2 using it. The DXVK project had merged the DXVK-Native code in DXVK 2.0 at the end of 2022, facilitating easier game porting by translating Microsoft's Direct3D API to Vulkan for native Linux games.
The developer Ethan Lee encouraged Steam developers to use the "Sniper" runtime for DXVK support and expressed optimism about FNA's GPU API, predicting it will meet or surpass current capabilities, benefiting the gaming community despite the intensive development efforts.
