Threema 2.0 update brings group call feature to desktop users

Threema has introduced its 2.0 update, adding group call functionality to its desktop version. Previously, end-to-end encrypted calls, both single and group were only available on mobile devices. With the new Threema 2.0 beta for desktop, iOS users can now initiate group calls by selecting a group chat and clicking the phone icon, with notifications sent to all group members.

Currently the desktop version supports only group calls, with single call support still under development. As a temporary solution, users can create a group with themselves and the contact they wish to call. Android support for this feature is also in the works, so Android users will need to wait for the update.

This enhancement is particularly beneficial for work meetings and group chats. For more information, users can refer to the changelog provided by Threema.
