Threema 2.0 desktop app goes open source with multi-device support and bug bounty program
Threema has announced that its Threema 2.0 standalone desktop application is now open source. This decision makes the app's source code publicly accessible, aligning it with Threema's other applications that are also open for external security evaluation.
The desktop app is included in Threema’s bug bounty program, offering rewards of up to CHF 10,000 for security-related issue reports. Prior to its release, the app underwent a thorough security audit and passed a bug bounty challenge, confirming its robustness.
The new Threema 2.0 app introduces multi-device support, allowing users to connect up to two computers to their account, with all linked devices remaining synchronized and operable independently. The app boasts a completely new architecture and redesigned user interface to enhance usability, and is currently available in beta for iOS users. The source code for the desktop app can be accessed on their GitHub page.
