SparkyLinux 7.4 “Orion Belt” released with numerous updates and Debian 12 compatibility

SparkyLinux has released version 7.4, a quarterly updated point release of Sparky 7 “Orion Belt”, which is based on and fully compatible with Debian 12 “Bookworm”. This update includes all packages refreshed from Debian and Sparky stable repositories. The new version operates on the Linux kernel 6.1.90 LTS, with ARM devices receiving an update to kernel 6.6.31 LTS.

Key software updates in SparkyLinux 7.4 include LibreOffice 7.4.7, KDE Plasma 5.27.5, LXQt 1.2.0, MATE 1.26, Xfce 4.18, Openbox 3.6.1, Firefox 115.11 ESR (with 127.0 and 115.12 ESR available in Sparky repos), and Thunderbird 115.11.0. Additionally, the update introduces Debian backports Linux kernels installation to APTus, supporting various architectures such as 64bit, 64bit RT, 686-pae, 686-pae RT, and 686 non-pae.
