Snap launches Lens Studio 5.0: enhanced AR creation with GenAI suite and plugin support

Snap has launched Lens Studio 5.0, introducing significant enhancements aimed at advancing augmented reality (AR) creation. The update features the GenAI Suite, which integrates machine learning tools and 3D asset generation, simplifying AR creation through text or image prompts.

The new version supports a plugin system, allowing developers to extend the Editor’s capabilities and customize workflows. This update is 18 times faster, enhancing productivity and modularity for developers. The AI Assistant offers quick responses to user queries, facilitating uninterrupted creation. Users can now leverage machine learning face effects for realistic selfies and real-time transformations for faces, bodies, and surroundings.

Lens Studio 5.0 includes a Figma Import Plugin for integrating 2D Figma designs into 3D scenes. The platform supports collaborative development with JavaScript, TypeScript, version control, and package management. The Asset Library enables users to find or share plugins and other assets, fostering a collaborative community.
