Microsoft blocks new workarounds for creating local accounts in Windows 11 setup
Microsoft has implemented measures to block previously known bypasses that allowed users to set up Windows 11 without a Microsoft account. Initially, users could bypass the requirement by terminating a specific process in Task Manager during the internet connection setup, which led directly to creating a local account. However, Microsoft quickly patched this method.
The latest method involved entering a blocked Microsoft Account email and a random password during setup, which would normally redirect users to a local account creation screen. This workaround has also been patched in the new Windows 11 24H2 update. According to Zac Bowden, senior editor at Windows Central, this process now loops back to the account linking page, necessitating a valid Microsoft Account email and password.
Despite these changes, users can still bypass the internet connection and Microsoft Account requirement by typing OOBE\BYPASSNRO into the command prompt during setup. This step, however, is less known and adds an additional layer of complexity to the installation process.

Shift + F10 and oobe\bypassnro in the cmd is the way to go. Never link your Microsoft account to your Windows install, it could screw the system up really badly
2004: to install Linux, you have to use the terminal. 2024: to install Windows, you have to use the command line. Insane times....
That's true... sadly
Windows 10 will be the last I use, have only one more device running it, in an year or so said laptop will also be on Linux. This is a joke, Microsoft overall is a joke! I doubt that will ever change.
This will only push more people to Linux. Linux apps are starting to show promise, though still have a long ways to go to catch up to Adobe editing software and gaming.
Just wait until they bring out the new LTSC and skip stock 11.
Why do Microsoft even care, I miss the old days when you could easily create a local account, then Microsoft would leave you alone.
A bad direction to take forcing users to create a Microsoft account...
Still using windows 10 currently, windows 11 just looks like a mess. Debating on setting up a dual boot of linux and trying that for a while but kinda unsure what distro would be best for gaming if anyone has recomendations
Garuda OS/ ChimeraOS
Live CD tested Nobara once. It's a bit bare-bones in desktop environments and in the software suite but it's mainly developed by the guy behind Proton GE so it's easy to set-up and run games smoothly. Though since it's a small WIP project and another person replied with it, I'd suggest Garuda because of the community support out there, wide variety of DEs and WMs to chose from a graphical installer, and it's GUI tools for software repository, installing game launchers + runners, and system management.
This is pure ensh*ttification. Even Windows ME starts to become better for everyday usage than Windows11... Imagine what windows 12 or 13 will be!
Win12 and 13 → nightmare fuel!
Yup
