Microsoft and Amazon partner to bring Xbox Cloud Gaming to Fire TV devices
Microsoft has teamed up with Amazon to offer Xbox Cloud Gaming on Amazon Fire TV devices, enhancing accessibility for gamers. Xbox Cloud Gaming, included in the $15 per month Xbox Game Pass Ultimate bundle, allows users to stream hundreds of games across various devices such as mobile phones, PCs, and the web. Previously, accessing the service on a TV required either an Xbox console or a compatible Samsung TV.
This new collaboration enables Xbox Cloud Gaming on Amazon Fire TV devices, significantly extending the platform's reach. Initially the service will support Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K and Amazon Fire Stick 4K Max, and will available in all regions where the service currently operates. To play games via Fire TV, users will need a Bluetooth Xbox Series X|S controller.
Despite Amazon technically already having a direct competitor to Xcloud, Amazon Luna, it is not surprising to see this alliance with Microsoft, especially considering the company's strategy to bring its services to as many places as possible. We have already seen this with their launch on Samsung TVs, in addition to other cloud services like GeForce Now and their multiplatform strategy on Switch and PlayStation, although many users are still waiting for official support for Android TV.
