Ente introduces Passkey support for enhanced security and simplified authentication

Ente, the private cloud service for storing and sharing photos and videos, has introduced passkey support. Passkeys serve as an advanced alternative to traditional two-factor authentication (2FA) methods, such as time-based one-time passwords (TOTPs), streamlining the authentication process and enhancing security. Since the beginning of the year, numerous platforms including 1Password, Bitwarden, Proton Pass, Dashlane, and LastPass have adopted passkeys to bolster security measures.

To add a passkey to your Ente account, navigate to the app's left-hand drawer, click on “Passkey”, and the app will open Ente Accounts in your default web browser. From there, you can view and manage your registered passkeys. By integrating passkeys, Ente aligns with thousands of other websites in elevating authentication security standards, contributing to a more secure Internet, and safeguarding users' data.
