Nintendo Switch to discontinue X/Twitter integration amid API Fee hike by Elon Musk

Nintendo has recently announced its decision to stop integrating X into its Switch gaming console. This move, which follows similar decisions by Sony Playstation and Microsoft Xbox, is a response to Elon Musk's increase in API fee pricing.

From June 10, 2024, Switch users will lose the ability to post screenshots and videos directly to X via the console's Album feature. Other features, such as sending friend requests through Friend Suggestions, will also be removed. Nintendo has stated that users will still be able to share media directly to Facebook, but this feature may also be removed in the future.

Despite the phasing out of X integration, Switch users can still share media to X by saving it to the Album, and then transferring the data to a smart device or PC wirelessly or via a USB cable. This marks the complete removal of X integration from all major gaming consoles, following Microsoft and Sony's lead.
