New Fedora Asahi Remix 40 now available for latest Apple Silicon Macs
Fedora Asahi Remix 40, a collaboration between Fedora and Asahi developers, is now available for Linux on the latest Mac computers with Apple M series processors. The new release incorporates the recently launched Fedora Linux 40 into Apple Silicon Macs, providing complete device support and high-quality audio immediately upon use.
The updated version includes conformant OpenGL 4.6 support, enhancing graphic capabilities on Apple Silicon. The main desktop experience is also KDE Plasma 6, offering users a modern, adjustable interface. The release comes with a custom Calamares-based initial setup wizard, making the installation process easier for users. In addition to KDE Plasma 6, a GNOME variant is also available, featuring GNOME 46 and running parallel to Fedora Linux offerings.
The Fedora Asahi Remix 40 also provides a Fedora Server variant, created specifically for server workloads and headless deployments, and a Minimal image for users who prefer a minimalist setup. Systems currently running Fedora Asahi Remix 39 can be easily upgraded to Fedora Asahi Remix 40 using the standard Fedora upgrade process, or by using the installation guide provided here.
