Apple unveils Logic Pro 2 with AI-generated instruments and new features for iPad Pro

Apple has recently unveiled updates to its Logic Pro and Final Cut Pro software (You can check out the latest updates for the latter here), tailored to the new iPad Pro models. The Logic Pro 2, which will be released first on May 13th for both iPad and Mac, incorporates AI-generated bass and keyboard instruments and a Stem Splitter feature. This feature uses AI to break down recordings into drums, bass, vocals, and other instruments, all processed on-device.

A new machine learning-driven reverb effect, ChromaGlow, has also been added. It provides five saturation styles for enhanced warmth, presence, and punch. Users can modify ChromaGlow to create a variety of sound effects. However, both ChromaGlow and Stem Splitter are exclusive to the Mac version of Logic Pro and require Apple silicon, thereby not compatible with older Intel Macs. These updates are compatible with devices running iPadOS 17.4 or macOS Ventura 13.5.

Apple suggests using its M-series Apple silicon chips for optimal performance with Logic Pro's features on iPad versions. Importantly, M-series chips are required for the Stem Splitter feature on iPads. Apple has also confirmed that Logic Pro updates will be free for existing users on macOS and iPadOS.
