NewPipe 0.27 released with new features, enhanced features, and bug fixes
NewPipe, the popular open source YouTube client for Android, has unveiled its latest version 0.27, introducing numerous features, enhancements, and bug fixes. The update includes support for comment replies, an addition of playlist description to playlist fragment, and an option to reset settings.
The 0.27 version further incorporates the overall duration of items in a playlist and provides the ability to order bookmarked playlists. The restored support of custom notification actions is also a part of the new release. The update allows users to play or pause from the notification when the player is buffering. Other changes include a revised landscape layout of list card item and the relocation of player notification settings to the notification section.
The latest version also includes a free memory check before initiating a video or audio track download, and the software now seeks consent before checking for updates, enhancing user control over the application.
NewPipe 0.27 has addressed several bug fixes as well. This includes the fixing of the extraction of YouTube comments, restoration of access to some YouTube streams, and a vulnerability patch when importing backups.
However, an existing issue regarding avatars, banners, and subscriber count for YouTube channels remains unresolved in this version. The NewPipe team has acknowledged this problem and assures that it will be addressed in a forthcoming update.
Newpipe is a great project, it's unfortunate some had to fork it to include sponsorblock. Tubular is the name of the fork I use.
