The Epic Games Store is launching its iOS and Android versions later this year
Despite initial opposition from Apple and Google, the Epic Games Store plans to broaden its digital marketplace to iOS and Android platforms later this year. The company has started discussions about the upcoming launch of it's new third-party store for mobile devices, although the platform will only be available in the EU thanks to the DMA, until Apple enables third party app stores in other areas.
The company recently shared a teaser of the new store, showcasing a design concept for both Android and iOS platforms. The Epic Games Store on desktop is currently praised for its favorable revenue splits for developers, where the store upholds an 88/12% revenue split, with developers keeping 88% of the revenue and the store taking 12%. The company has announced that these percentages would remain in the mobile device version of the store, with the advantage that during the initial six months on the Epic Games Store, developers are entitled to the full revenue.
The official launch date remains undisclosed and Epic Games has yet to reveal which games will be included on the mobile version of the store, but the launch is expected to launch "later this year."
