LinkedIn ventures into gaming sector with workplace-linked puzzle games

LinkedIn is reportedly planning to expand into the gaming sector to increase user engagement. The company is developing its own puzzle games like "Queens," "Inference," and "Crossclimb," inspired by popular games like Wordle. Researchers have found code that indicates LinkedIn's development of gaming features that could link player scores to their workplaces, leading to a potential company ranking system based on employee scores.

LinkedIn has confirmed its gaming initiative but has not announced a specific launch date. A company representative explained that the introduction of puzzle games is intended to make the platform more enjoyable, promote deeper connections, and stimulate user discussions.

Microsoft, LinkedIn's parent company, has a significant presence in the gaming industry with its Xbox gaming division generating $7.1 billion in revenue last quarter. However, the extent of Microsoft's involvement in LinkedIn's gaming project is unclear, as the company spokesperson did not provide additional details.
