Figma launches Multi-edit for editing objects across multiple frames and components
Figma has recently launched a new feature, Multi-edit, that allows users to simultaneously edit multiple elements across different frames and components, increasing design efficiency. The feature is currently accessible to all Figma users who have editing rights to a file, including free users.
Multi-edit simplifies the selection and editing process across different frames and component sets. It allows users to update text in bulk, align multiple objects within frames, and implement universal changes to all variants within a component set in one action. It supports a variety of editing actions such as rotation, grouping, masking, boolean operations, and adding auto layout frames, which can be applied across different containers including frames, groups, and sections.
The feature also provides quick selection of multiple layers from the canvas or Layers panel and has an added functionality to select matching objects for bulk editing. It enhances operations like aligning objects to their parent frames and copying/pasting objects across multiple frames ,as well as updating multiple text layers simultaneously and inserting objects into a single variant. Figma has also provided a template file that you can check out here for users who want to practice and become familiar with the new feature.
