X extends audio and video calling features to all non-premium users
The social platform X has announced it will extend its audio and video calling feature to all users. Previously, this feature was only available to Premium subscribers, who also enjoy benefits such as post editing, extended video uploads, and improved text formatting.
The calling feature will integrate into the direct messaging interface of the X application, akin to communication apps like WhatsApp or Messenger For iOS users, integration with the iOS CallKit API means incoming calls will appear on the Lock Screen.
X has also addressed privacy concerns, allowing users to customize their call settings to receive calls from contacts, followed accounts, or verified users, and allowint users preferring not to use the calling feature to opt-out in the app settings.
