Google to discontinue Android Pay app in the US, recommends switch to Google Wallet

Google has confirmed the discontinuation of its Google Pay app for US users, effective from June 4, 2024. After this date, the app's functions, including sending, requesting, and receiving money, will be inaccessible. The company recommends using Google Wallet instead, which includes many of the features of Google Pay such as tapping to pay in stores and managing payment methods.

Users are advised to manage their balance and transfer funds via the Google Pay website, which will continue to operate after the app's closure. Keep in mind that if you are a user of the platform, you need to address three main changes before the deadline: balance management, accessing offers and deals, and peer-to-peer payments.

This change will only affects US users, since Google Pay will remain available for users in India and Singapore, at least for now.

Google has the corporate equivalent to ADHD, they can't stick to a product long term, which create instability in users, the worst thing you can do if you want to develop loyalty. This is Apple is beating Android, you know things are going to be there long term and it's not going to be abandoned.
